“The Esselstynes~Or Alphonso and Marguerite”
Reputed to be Grace's first published story, at the age of twelve, when her Auntie Belle, the authoress Isabella Alden also known as “Pansy,” included it with her own stories in the book entitled Mother's Boys and Girls in 1887. One account I read said it was a surprise and put Grace's age at ten. But the second photo below definitely suggests otherwise.
