These
Donohue editions are aggressively collected today for their
obvious decorative aspects, but also for their unique collection
of authors, which included the most widely read story-tellers of
the time--writers like
Mrs. E.D.E.N. Southworth, Mary J.
Holmes, Charles Garvice, Mrs. Henry Wood, May Agnes Fleming,
Edna Lyall, George Eliot, J. M. Barrie, Augusta Evans Wilson,
Bertha Clay, Marie Corelli, and many, many others.
One
such collector, Joan Goetzinger, generously allowed me the
privilege of viewing and scanning her collection--not only the
dust jackets (which are unhappily rather scarce), but the book
covers themselves, which she thought would make very lovely
custom dust jackets. I have to agree. To see more examples

Most will be images from the private collection of
Joan Goetzinger. Thank you again Joan!!! I'll
gradually be adding new images to this list, as well as examples
of the dust jackets. The dust jacket for Mother-In-Law
by Southworth is a good example of the type paired with the
Donohue book covers shown below and can be easily used as a
template to create djs for other desired titles.
